Coupled three-dimensional modelling of groundwater-surface water interactions for management of seawater intrusion in Pingtung Plain, Taiwan

A coupled framework, linking subsurface flow and surface hydrodynamics, is developed applied to a real-world case study of Pingtung coastal aquifer in southwest Taiwan, East Asia. FEFLOW adopted develop 3-D variable density transient groundwater model the shallow lying 250 m below mean sea level (MSL). This with 1-D river network model, comprised main its two tributaries, using MIKE 11 through IFM coupling interface. The capable analysing relationship between rainfall, water recharge lag time. Also, analysis potential inundation maximum discharge enable choose best location apply artificial as management scenario mitigate effect seawater intrusion (SWI).
